Raman Research Institute Pancharatnam Fellowships in India, 2016

Raman Research Institute (RRI) is accepting applications for Pancharatnam Fellowships. The fellowship is available for young researchers from India to pursue PhD programme.
Raman Research Institute (RRI) is a premier research institution for advanced research. Applications are invited from motivated and qualified students for admission to the PhD programme 2016.
These fellowships are for three years and is usually offered to applicants who have completed at least one postdoctoral period after their doctorate.
Course Level: Fellowships are available for pursuing PhD programme.
Study Subject: Fellowships are offered in diverse fields to help students in upgrading their education.
List of Subjects: -Astronomy and Astrophysics (Cosmology and Galaxy Formation, Normal and Active Galaxies, Clusters of Galaxies, The Galaxy & the Interstellar Medium, The Intergalactic Medium, Neutron Stars and Pulsars and Polarization and Geometric Phases)
– Chemistry (Synthesis and Characterization of Liquid Crystals and Chemistry of Surfaces and Interfaces)
– Light and Matter Physics (Bose Einstein Condensation, Laser Cooling & Trapping of Atoms, Ultra-cold Molecules, Propagation of Light in Random Media, Quantum Optics and Quantum logic, Nonlinear Optics of Nanomaterials, Ultrafast Phenomena and Intense Laser Field Interactions)
– Signal Processing, Imaging and instrumentation (Radio and X-ray Astronomy and Liquid Crystal Displays)
– Soft Condensed Matter (Liquid Crystals, Amphiphilic Systems, Colloids, Polymer Physics, Surface Science and Experimental Biological Physics)
– Theoretical Physics (Condensed Matter & Statistical Physics, Classical & Quantum Gravity, Gravitational Waves, Physics in Biology and Differential Geometry in Physics)
Scholarship Award: Pancharatnam Fellowship appointments are for three years. Selected candidates will be paid a fellowship, between Rs.50,000 and Rs.55,000, depending on their experience and their research project will be independently funded; support for research related travel is also provided. Provisions are made for accommodation and partial assistance with relocation.

Eligibility: Candidates seeking admission in Physics must have MSc degree in Physics/ Mathematics with a minimum of 55% marks in aggregate or equivalent or first class B.E./B.Tech degree in Engineering. Students who expect to complete their final degree in the academic year 2015-2016 may also apply, provided they can produce their final score card at the time of admission. Reservations for SC/ST/OBC candidates will be as per norms.
Nationality: Indian applicants are eligible to apply for this PhD scholarship.
College Admission Requirement: This fellowship is for three years and is usually offered to applicants who have completed at least one postdoctoral period after their doctorate.
Supporting Material: Interested candidates should submit their (a) Curriculum Vitae, (b) List of Publications, (c) A resume detailing their previous research and other academic activities, and (d) A statement outlining their anticipated research activities while at the Raman Institute. In the case of Pancharatnam Fellows, the selection would be substantially weighted by their research proposal for the work that they aim to do at RRI.
How to Apply: All candidates need to apply for admissions at RRI. Students can apply online. For those who have difficulty in applying online, hard copy of the application forms can be requested from the admissions office, by sending a self-addressed envelope (25 x 20 cm).
Application Deadline: Applications for Pancharatnam Fellowships are always welcome and there are no closing dates. But for admission, applicants need to apply by February 26, 2016.
