Chevening South Asia Journalism Fellowship Programme (SAJP) in UK, 2016



Applications are invited for Chevening South Asia Journalism Fellowship Programme from mid-career journalists from the South Asian region. Fellows will participate in seven weeks of lectures, visits, and discussions that introduce them to key UK academics, media and political figures in the field. They will also spend time meeting their peers in some of the UK’s top media organisations, as well as running a symposium on a topic of their choice in the final week. The application deadline is 4 September 2015.
Study Subject(s): Fellows will undertake a bespoke programme titled ‘Good Governance in a Changing World: the Media, Politics and Society’.
Course Level: This is an eight week fellowship programme based at the University of Westminster.

Eligibility: To be eligible for a Chevening South Asia Journalism Fellowship Programme, you must:
-Be a citizen of India or Pakistan and currently live in the country. You must not hold British nationality.
-Have at least seven years’ work experience prior to applying.
-Be a mid-career journalist working in the political or economic sectors in India or Pakistan
-Have a postgraduate level qualification (or equivalent professional training or experience in a -relevant area) at the time of application.
-Agree to adhere to all relevant guidelines and expectations for the programme.
Scholarship Open for International Students: Citizens of India or Pakistan can apply for this fellowship programme.
Scholarship Description: The aim of the South Asia Journalism Programme is to improve mutual understanding and promote wider dialogue and better links between eminent South Asian journalists and the UK. It looks to expose future journalistic leaders from India and Pakistan to the UK’s top opinion formers and decision-makers within Government, politics, industry and civil society and to enable them to build a network of UK based contacts with a view to the UK becoming their international partner of choice in their chosen field. A Chevening Fellowship offers financial support along with the opportunity of becoming part of the highly regarded and influential Chevening global network.
